KUME LUVHANI - CO-FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Before launching Vaxowave, Kume built an illustrious career at one of South Africa’s largest banks, where she became one of the youngest directors at the age of 29. She is an alumna of the Harvard Business School Senior Executive Program – Africa (SEPA), holds an Honours degree in Accounting Sciences, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). She has won numerous accolades that have marked her journey for excellence across both academic and professional careers.
Kume is a passionate advocate for youth development, literacy advancement, and empowering women in leadership. She serves on the Advisory Board of Wired for Women, a platform that unites women in tech to address industry challenges and drive long-term, meaningful change. Her heart also extends to the elderly, where she champions the importance of dignity and compassionate care in their final days. Through mentorship, equipping rural schools, and supporting elder care initiatives, she strives to create a lasting impact.

PETER RIX - CO-FOUNDER
Peter holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree supplemented with a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a long-standing member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. His career in technology started in the telecommunications industry, where he worked at Alcatel Telecoms in his junior years, followed by various senior management roles at both Dimension Data and Internet Solutions. For the past 17 years, Peter has been firmly rooted in the Financial Services industry, working for both Standard Bank and Absa Bank (formerly known as Barclays Africa Group).
He is a firm believer in the growth potential of Africa and embodies this by investing his personal time in providing opportunities for the development of graduates and interns. He has also been involved with many CSI initiatives, and within the greater industry, he is the co-founder of the Africa Industry DevOps Day initiative, which aims to build a pipeline of DevOps in South Africa. In addition to his passion for giving back, he is an avid speaker and has presented at numerous industry initiatives, including a keynote speaker at the AWS summit in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2017, he was nominated as an Institute of Information Technology Professionals of South Africa (IITPSA) Visionary CIO finalist.

He was the first Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) for Microsoft Azure in South Africa and now one of only two currently holding the Microsoft MVP For AI accreditation.
Lawrance dedicates much of his time to mentoring cloud technologists and actively contributes to community initiatives, conferences, and seminars. Through these efforts, he champions cloud adoption and empowers future leaders by fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, innovation, and exploration. His “Cloud for Social Good” initiatives—delivered through conferences, workshops, boot camps, and nonprofit-focused projects—are helping to raise awareness of how cloud technology and AI can drive positive social change. Lawrance’s mission is to build a better society and uplift humanity through purposeful technology.

Lucien holds a Master’s qualification in Networking Engineering along with multiple AWS certifications.
He previously worked at AWS, where he was instrumental in supporting customers with complex cloud migrations. As a seasoned Cloud Solutions Architect, Lucien has played a critical role in delivering successful cloud strategies for a diverse portfolio of clients. He volunteers as an AWS community builder, which is a program designed for AWS enthusiasts and emerging thought leaders who are passionate about sharing knowledge and connecting with the technical community.

In addition, she holds a Master’s degree in Project Management and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, reflecting her strong focus on process excellence and strategic delivery.
Linda is passionate about the journey of self-discovery, a path that has cultivated a profound sense of empathy and compassion for others—particularly those who are often unheard or overlooked. As she continues to explore her own identity and purpose, she feels a strong calling to support individuals facing adversity, including those affected by unemployment, as well as to advocate for the well-being of animals who cannot speak for themselves.
